1. Census of
Population and Housing (CPH) - a decennial undertaking to obtain
inventory of the total population and housing units in the country.
It gathers information on the size and distribution of the
population as well as information about its demographic, social,
economic, and cultural characteristics. It also gathers information
on the supply of the housing units, their structural characteristics
and facilities.
2. Census of
Agriculture and Fisheries (CAF) - is a complete count of all farm
operators in the Philippines. It gathers basic characteristics of
each farm such as size, location, tenure status, source of
irrigation, crops planted, livestock or poultry raised, agricultural
practices, and others.
3. Census of
Philippine Business and Industry (CPBI) formerly Census of
Establishments (CE) - a comprehensive collection and compilation of
statistical information pertaining to the economic activities of
establishments in the country.
4. Census of Buildings (CB)- an inventory of buildings in the urban
areas of the country, their characteristics, usage, and the economic
activities engaged in by their occupants.

B.
Socioeconomic Household Surveys
|
1. Annual Poverty Indicators Survey (APIS) - a nationwide survey
that gathers information on the various indicators relating to
poverty. Among the specific data obtained from this survey are
health and schooling status of family members, economic and housing
characteristics, family planning awareness and practices, family
income and expenditure, and other relevant information.
2. Family Income
and Expenditure Survey (FIES) - a nationwide survey conducted every
three years, this gathers data on family income and family living
expenditure and related information affecting income and expenditure
levels and patterns in the Philippines.
3. Family
Planning Survey (FPS) - and annual nationwide survey for women of
reproductive age, this gathers and provides information on
contraceptive use in the Philippines for the Family Planning Service
of the Department of Health.
4. Functional
Literacy, Education and Mass Media Survey (FLEMMS)- a nationwide
survey that gathers information on the functional literacy,
educational and skills qualification and exposure of the population
to mass media.
5. Household
Energy Consumption Survey (HECS)- a nationwide survey that collects
data or residential energy consumption and utilization. This survey
also identifies household energy preference and patterns of energy
use.
6. Labor Force
Survey (LFS)- a nationwide survey of households undertaken every
quarter which is designed to provide statistics on levels and trends
of employment, unemployment, and under-employment for the country,
as a whole, and for each of the administrative regions, including
provinces and key cities or municipalities.
7. Maternal and
Child Health Survey (MCHS)- a nationwide survey of women of
reproductive ages who have surviving children below three years old.
It provides the Department of Health Information on the coverage and
effectiveness of its maternal health programs.
8. National Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS)- a nationwide
survey designed to measure trends in demographic and family planing
indicators, maternal and child health, fertility and other health
concern.
9. Survey on
Children 5 to 17 years old (SOC)- a nationwide survey designed to
collect data on the status and conditions of all working children
5-17 years old including the economic status of the household to
which the children belong. Developed to regularly monitor child
labor data, this survey provides information on the demographic and
socioeconomic characteristics of children working away from home.
10. Survey of
Overseas Filipinos (SOF)- an annual nationwide survey that intends
to monitor the number and economic contribution of overseas workers
as well as determine the levels and trends of international
migration as these affect the demographic, economic, and social
situation of the country as a whole.

C. Industry and Price Surveys
|
1. Weekly and
Monthly Price Surveys - serve as bases for the construction of the
Consumer Price Index (CPI), which indicates average changes in price
of commodities consumed and services availed of by an average
Filipino household. They also serve as the Wholesale Price Index (WPI),
a general measure of monthly changes in the price levels of
commodities that flow into the wholesale trade intermediaries, and
the Retail Price Index, a measure of the changes in the retail
prices at which retailers dispose their goods to consumers or
household.
2. Quarterly and
Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry formerly Quarterly
and Annual Survey of Establishments- provide statistics on the
structure, trends, and levels of economic activity in the country.
Annual surveys cover 14 sectors while the quarterly surveys cover 12
sectors.
3. Annual Survey
on Construction Projects of Local Governments- a nationwide survey
construction projects undertaken and funded by the local governments
in all provinces, cities and municipalities. It obtains data on the
number units on the total area covered by a project (or length if
project concerns streets or bridges), and on the total expenditure
incurred for each type of project during the calendar year.

D. Administrative-Based Statistics
|
1. Foreign Trade
Statistics- compiled from import and export documents submitted by
importers and exporters or their authorized representatives to the
Bureau of Customs as well as for imports cleared through the export
processing zones.
2. Commodity Flow (Domestic Trade) Statistics- data generated from
the flow of commodities within and among the different regions of
the country by means of air, water, and rail transport system.
3. Private
Building Construction (Building Permits) Statistics- data generated
from building permits issued by the local government. This shows the
size of the floor area, type and the value of proposed building
constructions.
4. Vital
Statistics- data generated from birth, death, and marriage
certificates

E.
Economic and Social Studies
|
1. Input-Output Table- a matrix that provides detailed accounting of
the amount of goods and services that individual sectors buy from
and sell to each other.
2. Population
Studies- include preparation of researches on fertility, mortality,
migration, nuptiality and other demographic characteristics, as well
as construction of life tables and preparation of population
estimates, projections of households, labor force, housing , and the
like.
3. Economic Studies- include preparation of short-range economic
analyses as well as undertaking of industry studies that serve as
bases of development strategies.

Civil Registration Activities
|
NSO function as
central repository of all civil registry documents such as birth,
death, and marriage certificates. About 100 million documents are
kept I the archives with about 3.0 million records added annually.
The public is
served through the issuance of:
· Certified
copy of birth, death, and marriage certificates
· Authenticated civil registry documents acquired from the Office
of the Local Civil Registrars
· Certificates of authority to solemnize marriage to religious
ministers
· Certification on single status of persons, and
· Supervision and coordination of Local Civil Registrar nationwide
